My portfolio is focused more on the written elements of game design, but there is a variety of work I have done within some of the design projects.

Game Design

Winterfall (Work in Progress)

A.F.T.E.R. Logo

Description: This project is set up to be a pen and paper role-playing game set in a post nuclear war future. Taking several hours and multiple revisions, those at the helm of this project are committed to releasing a polished game that includes an in-depth story, a varied character creation system, and with cohesive gameplay.

The Miranda Project (2008, Finished)

Miranda's Lab Atrium

Description: The Miranda Project is an Unreal 3 Tournament mod that hopes to incorporate alternatives to the games stock AI, weapons, and sound to create a unique gaming experience. The theme of the game is darker than and about as violent as in the original game, but instead the project will focus on the main enemy using controlled humans in various degrees as “zombies.”

My Role(s): Lead level design, story, characters, and producer.

The Apollo Project (2007, Canceled)

Apollo - Main Concept

Description: The game is based on Apollo, a biologically enhanced and mechanically engineered soldier, who has become a vigilante in a post-apocalyptic world. Apollo was once a product of the cooperation U-Tech (Universal Technology), as a soldier, and was turned into an elite class rogue as a special agent. Brainwashed and obedient, Apollo carried out missions for U-Tech and its city, The H.I.V.E., until he encountered his long lost mother who, by traumatic intervention, makes him see the oppression and disease caused by U-Tech and its H.I.V.E., turning him into Apollo the Vigilante against U-tech.

My Role(s): Story and character design, producer, and worked closely with art department.

The McKade Brothers (2008-Present):

Description: Telling the story of two brothers traveling the US in the 1960s, this project has the intention of being a stand alone novel when completed. Working with a fellow UAT student, James Sanderson, the approach to the narrative will be unique for the fact that the story is going to alternate which brother is telling the story from his perspective. The excerpt is from the early part of the story.

The Turning of Marissa Léteal (2009-Present):

Marissa Léteal

Description: Dipping into the realm of the supernatural with this writing project, I decided to take the ambitious notion (for a young writer) of narrating a story with a female protagonist. Only existing in shorter form at the moment, I would like to expand on this story and its characters.

Set in the medieval era, the young Marissa works at her father’s tavern while hoping for a handsome man to take her out of the realm of poverty. When such a man happens upon her, she falls for him quickly—only to find out that there is much more to him then he reveals. With Marissa’s bad luck as a mortal, she gets a second chance at life when encountering her first werewolf. The excerpt is from the early part of the story.

UAT Academy Writings (2009, Cancelled): Intending this to be a beginning of a larger multimedia project (however it would be primarily art based), the project on the written content side only ended up as a set up and outline for a science fiction story. The story would follow Ryan Wolfe, a soldier, and his alien friend, through events in the year 2258 A.C.E., the story encompasses many themes and speculates as to the technology of the time period. Other Game Documentation

Cursed Ties (2007): This is a proposed third-person action shooter where players have a perspective similar to games like Gears of War and Resident Evil 4 while being able to roam around the game world akin to games from the Grand Theft Auto series. Along with those elements, the game has some unique concepts regarding inventory and armor not readily found among its genre peers and, instead, more commonly featured in games like Champions: Return to Arms or occasionally a inventive role-playing game. Branching storytelling is intended to be used as a crucial part of character development. (Cursed Ties Documentation)

Terminal Winter (2009): This is a proposed MMO where players take the role of survivors in a world riddled with zombies, mutants, and feral animals. Choosing from a number of classes, players will have to learn how to survive both the harsh environment and against each other via faction combat. (Terminal Winter Documentation)

Ipswich Hallow (2009): This project is mostly a story shell for a video game. My increased interested in the supernatural from my other writing projects inspired me to lend some time in creating a world where humans, vampires, and werewolves interact on a daily basis. After some thought, it seemed fitting to belong in the sphere of video games. (Ipswich Hallow Documentation)

Multimedia Projects

The Turning of Marissa Léteal (2009-Present): In an effort to put some more of a unique feel when reading the story, I created a background and did some things with the font of my excerpt. The end result is satisfying but is something that I definitely want to improve upon in the future. Essentially, the end result is a partially illuminated manuscript.
